Start a cultural shift away from party politics
Politics is a pendulum, and we are at the far right. It takes intentional organizing, coalition building, and policies beyond party boundaries to work to shift the pendulum towards the left. This requires a collective effort not to comply or compromise with the current Regime that is actively seeking to undermine American democratic processes.
I will use the influence of the board to empower other progressives in politics to take more risks and push progressive and obtainable policy and legislation that meets the needs of constituents.
I am standing up against the current regime and will use what power I have to protect Arlington County from attacks on our resources, local government, and communities.
I actively resist influences of Corporate PACs and establishments, and will urge fellow board members to follow.
Reground politics within reality
Reclaim the narrative towards an inclusive, progressive future that addresses the root causes of systemic issues, rooted in lived experiences, instead of simply putting band-aids on bullet holes. There needs to be deliberate measures within policy, not just reactive outrage once a policy or event happens.
My platform will be centered around constituent needs and addressing the systemic root causes of these issues instead of temporary fixes.
In the face of attacks on local municipalities regarding the kidnapping of our neighbors, federal taxes being manipulated, and the military being deployed against citizens. I see the sense of urgency surrounding a call for a coalition made up of community members, elected officials, and organizations to create a unified, obtainable, strategic plan for a progressive future.
This campaign is a part of a broader coalition strategy to unite voices around a larger goal for a democracy that properly works for all, not a privileged few.
Empower people, not wealth or influence
The narrative needs to shift to be that power rests not in offices, but in the people. There needs to be collective change away from corporations and the top 1% and instead, reinvesting into our local businesses and small communities. Politicians should be loyal to and represent everyday people, not billionaires and corporations.
I will use my influence to steer a regional debate on the ending of § 15.2-3201 (Temporary restrictions on granting of city charters, filing annexation notices, institutions of annexation proceedings, and county immunity proceedings).
When addressing systemic and institutional failures, it is vital to include marginalized and intersectional voices in the conversation. If elected to the county board, I will ensure that lived experiences of those who are disproportionately impacted by the whitewashing of policy and legislation within the county can be properly addressed to suit the needs of these communities.
I am committed to ensuring the county board works with our community and those who were recently laid off due to the current regime to diversify our economy away from corporate interest and instead, empower Arlington Economic Development to create programs that enable local start-ups in sectors other than Defence, Contracting, and government consulting.
